The Problem of Unemployment in India
Amongst several hurdles in the way of becoming a developed country, unemployment is the major challenge before India. Numerous economists and theorists have defined unemployment in different ways by considering the multi-dimensional factors of this growing problem. A very common and randomly observed meaning of unemployment clearly states a situation where eligible people willing to work and seeking better employment opportunities fail to get the same.
However, it can be broadly classified into two sectors only which encompass all the other aforementioned sectors discussed previously. These two fundamental infrastructural sectors of our economy are 1. Production Sector 2. Service Sector.
However, unemployment can be better classified in several different categories like cyclical unemployment, frictional unemployment, seasonal unemployment, open unemployment, and others of relevant nature. Before discussing the depth of this emerging economic problem of our country, let's consider the fractional outlook first from where it gets formulated actually. Our economical infrastructure has been categorized into three major parts, primary sector, secondary sector, and tertiary sector.
Needless to say, whatever the sector it is, the workforce is required everywhere and in every sector to make the economical activities productive. The overall growth and productivity of the economical infrastructure of a country majorly depend on the growth and development of these two aforesaid sectors. For an agro-based country, like India, where a large sum of GDP consists of majorly agricultural goods and services, undoubtedly, the essential reforms in agricultural policies are necessary to be exercised upon.
In such a massive phase of globalization, where most of the developed nations are showing great interest in technology and defence, we can't only move with the agricultural productivity, we also need to regularize all these sectors to gain momentum in employment opportunities.
Don't you think that in such a highly competitive global scenario where several countries of the world are boosting their economic infrastructure with technological support and core strategic initiatives regarding economic prosperity, a country like India, also needs multidisciplinary socio-economic reforms in policies concerning employment opportunities?
There are numerous factors responsible for unemployment in India like undefined education and lack of talent acquisition, political interventions, corrupt system, failed administration, unskilled population, lesser formulation of employment policies, and undoubtedly, the political disturbances and concerned side-effects.
We can't ignore the fact that without uplifting the underprivileged sections of our society, it's not possible to maintain a socio-economic equilibrium within the country to move towards becoming a developed nation.
A country decorated with the beauty of having the youngest population is depriving gradually to provide the same for its growing unemployed workforce. Contrary to it, if this growing young workforce is not able to provide any economical advantage to its country in exchange for the resources that they are utilizing, undoubtedly, they are just exploiting our resources instead of utilizing it fruitfully.
