National Defence Academy (NDA) Exam Complete Details
The National Defence Academy (NDA) located in Khadakwasla, Pune, Maharashtra is the joint services academy of the Indian Armed Forces. The NDA was established on 7 December 1954 and it is the first tri-service academy in the world.
Since its inception, the National Defence Academy (NDA) has given a number of valiant warriors who have contributed significantly to maintaining India's integrity and sovereignty. The NDA has its own glorious history and whenever the name of cadets who took training from here comes in our mind, the heart automatically gets filled with patriotic spirit.
Whether it is Squadron Leader Rakesh Sharma, who achieved the distinction of being the first Indian to go into space, or the Param Vir Chakra winner Captain Manoj Kumar Pandey, who was martyred in the Kargil War, or whether it is Colonel Santosh Babu who just recently got martyrdom in the India China stand-off, or the current chief of our three wings of the Indian Armed Forces, all of them have been alumni of the glorious National Defence Academy.

Eligibility Criteria for NDA -
Educational Qualification -
12th Passed/Appearing from any stream for Army
Physics & Mathematics Mandatory at 10+2 Level for Air Force & Navy Wings
Age Limit - 16 to 19 Years
Candidates should be physically and mentally fit.
Syllabus & Exam Pattern of NDA -
There are two papers in the NDA exam.
Paper I - Mathematics
Paper II - General Ability Test (GAT)
Paper-I (Mathematics)
Time - 2 Hours 30 Minutes
Number of Questions - 120
Total Marks - 300
Positive Marking - 2.5 marks for each right answer
Negative Marking - 1/3 (deduction of 0.83 marks)
Subjects Covered - Statistics, Probability, Trigonometry, Algebra, Matrices and Determinants, Calculus and Differential Equations
Paper-II (General Ability Test - GAT)
Time - 2 Hours 30 Minutes
No. of Questions - 150 (50 Questions from English)
Total Marks - 600
Positive Marking - 4 marks for every right answer
Negative Marking - 1/3 (deduction of 1.33 marks)

Written Results, SSB Interview & Final Results
Written Results -
After successful completion of the written exam, a list of selected candidates who have qualified for the SSB Interview is declared by the UPSC.
SSB Interview - (900 Marks)
The written qualified candidates are called for an Intelligence and Personality Test conducted by the Services Selection Board (SSB).

Psychology Test
Conference
A candidate recommended by the SSB will undergo a Medical Examination by a Board of Service Medical
Officers.
Final Results - After successful completion of all the stages of the exam, a merit list of finally selected candidates who are eligible to get admission to the National Defence Academy is declared by the UPSC.
Training at NDA & Afterwards
3 Years of rigorous training to all the selected candidates in both Academics and Physical disciplines
Graduation Degrees from Jawaharlal Nehru University Delhi on successful completion of the Training
Specific Training at concerned wings of the Indian Armed Forces after passing out from the NDA
