How to Apply For CDS Exam
Exam Pattern of CDS Examination
There would be an offline pen-paper based exam consists of objective questions from three sections such as English, General Knowledge, and Elementary Mathematics. Each section consists of 100 marks to be solved in a stipulated time duration of 2 hours for each paper.
Firstly, the aspirants should satisfy the eligibility criteria required to be held eligible for appearing in the CDS examination. The eligible candidates, then, can apply online by visiting the official website of the Union Public Service Commission.
Essential Eligibility Criteria for CDS Exam
- For Indian Military Academy, Dehradun and Officers' Training Academy, Chennai - Degree of a recognized University or equivalent.
- For Indian Naval Academy, Ezhimala - Degree in Engineering from a recognized University.
- For Air Force Academy, Hyderabad - Degree of a recognized University (with Physics and Mathematics at 10+2 level) or Bachelor of Engineering.
Exam Details & Selection Procedure
Firstly, the candidates will appear for a written exam consists of objective-type questions. Those candidates who qualify the written tests are called for an extensive interview conducted by SSB (Services Selection Board). After all, a final merit list of selected aspirants is prepared based on the marks obtained by them in different segments of selection procedure, physical and medical suitability, and of course the number of vacancies available as per different streams. Finally, the selected candidates undergo rigorous training as per their allotted training establishments.
